Independent Learning
One of the ways of placing the responsibility of learning back on the
students is by using "independent learning."
The best example of this is when students are placed in front of computers and learn material on their own and at their own pace.
This can be more satisfying to the student because computers do not place value judgments on the success of their work and they enjoy working with nonjudgmental devices.
At the same time though, the student may get off task and surf the Internet or play computer games.
Some educators consider independent learning to be the highest form of student learning.
